Thanks to a brief but powerful summer thunderstorm early Monday evening, more than 3,000 Tinley Park residents were without power as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Boston Bruins in thrilling fashion, winning the Stanley Cup.

Reader Karen Krisch sent Patch this photo and the following description of how she, her husband and their neighbors dealt with the lights being out during Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final:

"How neighbors in oak forest come together during indefinite power outage. 1 generator. 1 pizza, a few candles and game 6. Go Hawks … with Karen and Mike Krisch, Gail Werr, Rich Kavaloskas, Jackie Diaz, Rick and Brandy Payne and Kim and Ray Knoll"

Krisch and her neighbors were without power during the entire game Monday. So she and her husband decided to use a generator, and instead of plugging in the refrigerator, they plugged in the TV.

"We have coolers and ice. LOL," she wrote.

As for everyone's reaction as the seconds ticked away in Game 6, this is how she described it:

"It was amazing … can't even explain. 2 goals in 17 seconds.. It was electric. Good friends, good neighbors, a generator and a pizza. … I guess we should plug the fridge in now ;-)"
