Extra Points: Franson Shines on Senior Night

Despite only being a freshman, the spotlight was on Andrew's Molly Franson in the T-Bolts' victory over Thornwood on Thursday.

Despite Thursday night being Senior Night, freshmen center/forward Molly Franson found a way to steal the show.

"Tonight was a big night, it was exciting," she said. "I think that kind of hyped me up a little bit, it was fun."

Franson led the Thunderbolts with 23 points and six rebounds in a 58-47 girls basketball victory over Thornwood. Andrew coach Bob Matz said Franson's overpowering performance was nothing out of the ordinary.

"She does what we need her to do," he said. "If we need her to score, she scores. If we need her to do other things, she does other things. In the first half, she had 15 points in about 4 or 5 minutes. She didn't play much. She's talented."

Franson remained modest about the work she did on the court. She said the night wasn't about her.

"It wasn't really about that (her point total)," she said. "It was about our seniors, I'm really going to miss them. It's never going to be the same without them."

The Best Play: It was more like a spurt. Franson scored six unanswered points in the second quarter and helped the T-Bolts build a 28-8 lead.

A Look Ahead: Andrew will face Stagg at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday. The D230 matchup tips off postseason play for both at the Thornton Regional.
