Extra Points: Tinley Park's Sebastian Brings the Intensity

Andrew Sebastian was named one of the Titans' boys basketball team captains because he knows how to get his teammates motivated.

Tinley Park's Andrew Sebastian has what it takes to be a good captain. Not only can he put points on the board for the Titans, but he brings a little something extra to the team as well.

"The biggest thing Andrew (Sebastian) gives us is our energy," Tinley Park coach D.J. Brown said. "He brings intensity as our team leader. He's one of our captains. We expect a lot from him offensively as well as defensively."

Sebastian, a senior guard, led the Titans with 12 points in Tuesday night's 67-59 victory over Oak Forest. Sebastian said the Titans were trying to move past their 51-44 loss to Hillcrest and tack on another victory.

"We just came off a hard loss to Hillcrest, and everyone was really down about that," he said. "One of my teammates, Steve White, came up to me and said, 'We feed off your energy.' I was up for this game, anyway, so it was really easy for me to get my teammates going."

Sebastian said some of his energy may have come from the fact that the matchup against the Bengals is something he has been looking forward to all year.

"This is the only game I really love to play in all year," Sebastian said. "It's a crosstown rivalry. I see them (Oak Forest players) around all the time and hang out with some of them. The talking goes back and forth all season between basketball, baseball and football. So, it's good to win one of these."

The Best Play: Oak Forest's Jimmie Williams hit a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter to help the Bengals stay in the game. His shot cut Tinley Park's lead to 49-46.

A Look Ahead: Tinley Park will hit the road to play Marist on Saturday in its next-to-last regular-season game. Oak Forest will host Thornton Fractional North on Friday night.
