Fast Start: Tinley Park Kids Storm the Pool

Thunder swim team has kicked off a busy summer season.

Thunder in the sky and Thunder in the pool, too?

Tinley Park has a competitive swim team, the Thunder, comprised of boys and girls ranging from ages 8-18. The Thunder train year-round, but really kick up their schedule during the summer season.

The Thunder turned in some impressive performances in their June 6 distance meet vs. UNAT. For the girls, Ella Lindokken placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly. Nikka Unde won the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.

For the boys, Larry Feeley had a standout day. He finished first in four events, 200 free, 200 fly, 200 breast and 500 free.

The Thunder have a home meet against Burbank on June 14 and will be hosting their team triathlon on June 16.

T-Bolts Bid Adieu

The Andrew girls softball team finished a successful season in tough-to-swallow fashion last Saturday. The in the sectional finals after carrying a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Summer Camps

Tinley Park High School is offering a number of sports camps for the summer.

Girls Volleyball: Grades 7-12, July 11-15.

Football:  8th grade/incoming freshman, July 11-15; 10-12 grades, June 8-July 18.

Baseball: 7-10 grades, June 13-17.

Girls Basketball: Incoming freshman and high school students, June 8-9-10 and June 13-14-15-16 and June 20-21-22-23-24.  Grades 5-8, June 27-30. 

Boys Basketball: Incoming freshman and high school students June 13-June 30, Monday-Thursday.

Wrestling: Grades 6-12, July 18-22.

Girls Tennis: Incoming freshman and high school students, June 13-17.

Boys Tennis: Incoming freshman and high school students, June 20-23.

Girls Soccer: July 18-22.

Boys Soccer: July 11-15.
