Football: Andrew Celebrates Homecoming with Win Over Thornwood

Breaking It Down: used solid defense and a big game from running back Jarvis Franklin to roll past Thornwood 21-6 in SouthWest Suburban Red action Friday night

On a cold and wet homecoming night in Tinley Park, Andrew’s defense and special teams couldn’t have started out much hotter. On Thornwood’s first three possessions of the game, the Thunderbolts recovered a fumble, blocked a punt, and picked off Thunderbirds quarterback Patrick Bolton, repeatedly giving the Andrew offense outstanding field position.

The T-Bolts offense sputtered in the first quarter, turning the ball over twice on downs inside Thornwood territory, but it eventually got rolling behind senior running Jarvis Franklin. He showed power running inside the tackles and speed on the outside, scoring one of his two touchdowns on a 34-yard scamper down the sideline. Franklin carried the ball 27 times for 155 yards.
