Talented running backs dominate this week's local football match-ups for Oak Forest, Tinley Park, and Andrew.

Friday Night Face-offs

Two of the area’s top running backs will be on display as unbeaten teams meet in a South Suburban Blue showdown on Friday night.

After rolling through their first two opponents of the year, was challenged for the first time last Friday . Trailing 21-20 with less than five minutes remaining, Oak Forest quarterback Tom Zale hit Arthur Johnson for a 30-yard touchdown to take the lead and the game.

takes a similar momentum into the conference match-up.  Down 6-0 at halftime, the Braves scored a third and fourth quarter touchdown to take the contest from Hillcrest 14-12. The Bremen defense has allowed an astonishing 6 points per game through three games.

The players to look out for are and Bremen running back David Smith. Both are averaging more than ten yards per carry, and the south suburban tandem is being heavily recruited by Division 1 football powers.

Coleman and Smith will also be heavily involved in other aspects of the game: returning punts and playing defense for their respective schoos.

The Titans look to keep their record unblemished as they finish their four-game home-stand against .

Evergreen Park (2-1) at Tinley Park High School (3-0)

When and Where: 7 p.m. Friday at , 8125 W. 171st St.

For the second week in a row, the Titans overcame a half-time deficit to take the lead and secure the win in the fourth quarter. .

last Friday after Eisenhower and dual-threat quarterback Justin Geiter visited Evergreen Park. The Mustangs will again have their hands full on defense, as Tinley Park continues to light up the scoreboards.

The Titans offense is averaging a whopping 50 points per game through their first three contests. Tinley Park’s offensive line continues to dominate the line of scrimmage and wear opponents down in the second half, but after giving up 52 points last week, it’s the Titans defense that needs to step-up against Evergreen Park.

The Mustangs will look to ride . Baker finished with 113 yards on 16 carries last week. 

The T-Bolts look to keep their momentum rolling after dominating Stagg last week for their first win of the year.

Andrew (1-2) at Lincoln-Way West (2-1)

When and Where:  7:30 p.m. Friday at , 21701 Gougar Rd, New Lenox.

Last Week: ; LW West 35, Thornridge 6.

Powered by quarterback Tyler Hook, receiver Alex Zappavigna, and the big play ability of Dennis Vilimek, the . But it was the Andrew defense that stole the show. In their first game at home, Andrew allowed only 50 yards through the air in their shutout of Stagg.

If they hope to start a win streak, the Andrew defense will need to bring it once more as Lincoln-Way West features bruising running back Nick Dangles.  Dangles ran all over Thornridge last week in . The junior back ran for 132 yards on 17 carries and scored two second-half touchdowns.

Andrew counters with a tough-runner of their own.  Jarvis Franklin -who also plays linebacker-  ran for 103 yards and a touchdown on 17 touches last week.  Franklin has a nose for the end-zone, and scored on a 29-yard scamper.
