Gimme 5: Andrew's Hopper Keeps It Light

Senior tennis standout Mark Hopper is all about making jokes on the court, bringing a positive energy to the T-Bolts.

Andrew's Mark Hopper doesn’t watch much tennis on television, but after playing four years of doubles with his friend, Mike Blake, Hopper knows a thing or two about their strengths and weaknesses.

“The strongest part of our game is our net play,” Hopper said. “We set each other up for  a lot of smashes.”

When things don’t go their way on the court, Hopper becomes inspired by one of his favorite actors, Jack Black, to keep things light and positive.

“We don’t usually get down on each other during matches if it goes poorly for us.  We joke around to pick ourselves up, keep things positive.” Hopper said.

Next year, Hopper will attend Northern Illinois University and study Operations Management and Information Systems. He hopes to play intramural tennis during his time at Northern.
