Sports Video Highlight Reel: Wasn't Meant to Be

Despite a solid effort, the Andrew boys volleyball team dropped a straight-sets decision to rival Sandburg.

Even though Andrew hung around with highly rated Sandburg for a majority of the boys volleyball match, the T-Bolts' efforts came up short as they dropped a straight-sets decision to the Eagles on their home floor.

Sandburg came up with the big points when it needed to in a 25-19, 25-21 victory.

Both teams played the first part of Game 1 evenly. Then, Sandburg used a four-point scoring run to take a 13-7 lead. Andrew responded with a four-point run of its own, cutting the deficit to 13-11 and forcing a Sandburg timeout. However, the Eagles pushed their lead to 22-14. And Andrew was unable to overcome the deficit.

T-Bolt senior captain Jake Bednarczyk led Andrew with five kills in the first game, while Bobby Renaud and James Boyce each had four digs.

The second game was much more heated as the two teams fought back-and-forth, finding themselves in a 14-14 tie before a Sandburg timeout caused a break in the action. Despite some powerful kills from Bednarczyk and Andrew senior Paul Bilanzic, the Sandburg lead ballooned to 21-16. The two teams then traded points the rest of the way as Sandburg prevailed 25-21.
