Quick hit: "(We're looking) to rebound from a disappointing season," Tinley Park coach Brian Gibbons said. "We will work hard and look to run the bases to make up for a lack of power. If we can get a pitcher or two to step up, we look to be competitive in our conference."

Position breakdown

Infield: Potential infield starters include Max Lapthorne, Andrew Sebastian, Adam Gunther, Nelz Ursich, and Josh Narbiaz and Josh Simon. Sebastian, a senior second baseman, returns after hitting .514 with 26 RBIs. Lapthorne hit .374.

Outfield: Senior Cameron Hickey returns for his fourth season playing varsity ball.  Supporting him will be Pat Cosgrave, Julian Obryant, Sean Rady, Kyle Sheridan and Ahman Smith.  Hickey is a right fielder. He batted .328.

Pitching: Andrew Sebastian and Dylan Osterman are the only returning varsity pitchers who logged many innings last year. Six others will compete for two slots in the regular rotation.

Catching: Senior Owen Griffin and sophomore Josh Simon will share time behind the plate. Griffin batted .372.

Coach Brian Gibbons says: "The strength of our team will be in being able to execute the basics of the game. We will be looking to focus on the fundamentals of the game and excelling at perfecting them. If we work hard and stay focused, we think we can be very competitive."
