Watch: Andrew Football Unable to Crack Sandburg 'D'
In this tough defensive battle, the Thunderbolts came up short against Sandburg 17-10 in their season-opener on Friday night in Orland Park.
Friday night brought with it the promise of the football season opener for the Andrew Thunderbolts as they traveled to Sandburg to take on the Eagles in a Southwest Suburban Conference crossover matchup.
Defense dominated the first half as each team barely managed to muster 50 yards total offense. A Sandburg field goal gave the Eagles an early 3-0 lead, but an Aaron Cook pass was intercepted by the Eagles and returned for a touchdown to give Sandburg a 10-0 halftime lead.
The T-Bolts responded in the third quarter as Jarvis Franklin powered across the goal line to cut the lead to three, but another Sandburg touchdown in the fourth quarter was too much for the T-Bolts to overcome as they dropped their season opener 17-10.
