Downtown Transforms Into Tropics for 14th Year

Officials have said they're expecting about 20,000 people to come to downtown Tinley Park on Sunday for the annual Caribbean Beach Block Party—the biggest party of the summer. Will you be there?

will transform this weekend to become the tropical land that reflects the recent summertime heat.

The will take over Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets between noon and 7 p.m. Sunday. Games, music, entertainment and trolley rides are all free to the public. The event also boasts a mini "Taste of Tinley" and a classic car show.

Sunday's beach party is one of the most popular events in the village all year, coordinators have said. It's expected to draw about 20,000 people to the downtown area.

It features live musical performances by four bands, which will play on two different stages near the . Representatives from the MainStreet Commission, who coordinate the event, have said they'll also have a giant slide, climbing wall and arts and crafts projects for kids.
