Fourth of July HQ: Your Guide to Celebrating in Tinley Park

Here's your guide to what you need to know to enjoy your holiday in Tinley Park this year.

Fourth of July Forecast


According to the National Weather Service, Independence Day in Tinley Park looks like it will be ideal for spending it outside, having fun. The high will be 80 during the day, but things will cool down to a low of 63 at night, so make sure you bring something to keep the chill away while watching fireworks.

Village Celebration


The Tinley Park-Park District will be holding its annual Fourth of July celebration starting with the 5K Stars & Stripes Run/Walk at McCarthy Park, 16801 S. 80th Ave. Then the celebration begins with the opening ceremonies at 4 p.m. at McCarthy Park. Check out the Events Listing for details and times

Village and Area Fireworks Displays


The big show begins in Tinley Park at 9:15 p.m. at McCarthy Park. Patch also maps out where other displays will be going off around the area

What's Open, What's Closed

The following places will be closed Thursday, July 4: 
  • Village Hall and other government offices 
  • Tinley Park Post Office and delivery
  • Tinley Park Public Library

NuWay Disposal pickup: If Thursday is your normal garbage day, it moves to Friday, and Friday trash pickups move to Saturday. 

Restaurants, bars and retail shops: Many stores and eateries are open for the holiday. Call ahead before you head out.
