Annual Adopt a Child holiday program

Just as Santa Claus works all year round to be ready for his big Christmas Eve run, Together We Cope has been at work for months on its annual Adopt a Child holiday program.
We are lining up sponsors for 1,500 children in this project, which pairs the youngsters anonymously with individuals, businesses, churches or organizations that provide two $15 gifts per child. Sponsors do their shopping early and deliver the unwrapped gifts to Together We Cope by Nov. 16. Then TWC sorts the gifts by family, and often adds things like pajamas or mittens that are donated to us by local schools conducting drives in their classrooms. The gifts are bundled for each family and given to parents in mid-December for wrapping at home.
For those who don’t have the time to shop for a specific child but want to get into the holiday spirit with us, donation of teen gifts and gift cards are greatly appreciated to supplement this program. Suggestions: Axe personal care products, wallets, scarves, makeup kits, jewelry and CDs. Also, iTunes gift cards are very popular with teens, as are gift cards for restaurants such as Subway, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, etc.
Further information on Adopt a Child is with Tina Kessens, client program coordinator, at 708-633-5040 or tkessens@togetherwecope.org.
