Plucking a cool duck on a hot day

Local youngsters take a break from the 90-plus-degree weather to "pluck a duck" from the fountain in Zabrocki Plaza during the Tinley Park Caribbean Block Party on July 15.

Local youngsters take a break from the 90-plus-degree weather to “pluck a duck” from the fountain in Zabrocki Plaza during the Tinley Park Caribbean Block Party on July 15. “Pluck a Duck” is sponsored by nonprofit organization Together We Cope, a homeless prevention agency that assists south suburban residents in temporary crisis. Funds generated from “Pluck a Duck” directly support TWC’s programs and services.

“Pluck a Duck has become more than a fundraiser for Together We Cope,” said Karen Moran, fundraising coordinator. “It heightens the public’s awareness of all of the other programs we sponsor throughout the year to help south suburban families.” TWC is currently involved in its annual Back to School campaign, which provides school supplies to the children of clients.
