Meet Kimberly, A Lovable Dog With A Sad Story

Kimberly is just one of the pets available at PAWS of Tinley Park.

Kimberly made seasoned animal rescue workers in Kentucky break down and cry, said John Dillon, the 3-year-old boxer mix's current foster.

The sweet and playful dog, whose last owner is currently facing animal abuse charges, was loved once. When the bank foreclosed on her first owner's home, he had to give Kimberly up. He gave her to the wrong friend.

Months later, animal rescue workers had to break down the door to the bathroom where Kimberly had been locked. She had a toilet for drinking water and no food. The boxer mix, currently a bit underweight at 60 pounds, was down to 35 and could barely walk.

But it wasn't the conditions that made the animal rescue workers break down. It was what Kimberly did next.

She tried to bring them a toy.
