Photo Gallery: Volunteers Spread Suds and Soak up the Sun for Furry Friends

Volunteers hosted a car wash in Tinley Park on Saturday. All proceeds will go toward PAWS Animal Shelter.

The line of cars around a Tinley Park restaurant grew so long Saturday, you'd think it was giving away free gas. It was not.

was actually hosting a fundraiser for . The people in line were waiting for car washes.

"We actually began raising money July 1st," said Lisa Helwig-Bova, community relations coordinator for Boston's, who added that $2,000 was raised before Saturday's event.

She said servers at the restaurant had been giving out cards asking for customers' donations to the shelter. They'd also been spreading the word about the upcoming wash.

John Greenan, animal therapy coordinator at PAWS, was among volunteers lending a hand to scrub a dub dub.

"This is a great opportunity for us to meet the community that comes out and supports such a good cause like PAWS," he said. "We're a nonprofit, no-kill shelter. Every animal stays at our shelter until they get adopted. Today will help feed those animals."

As the cars kept coming, so did the volunteers.
