Our family has been going to Olympic Star for over 20 years. Kids are grown and moved away but they can't wait to come and visit this summer to experience what we have - old friends and great food!

we have always enjoy the Olympic star, have many good memories of going there with Bob and Charlene Oehmen. I am looking forward to the next time we head to Tinley Park, we shall stop by the new Olympic Star for sure.
i am glad they are trying to become better.... we went the night of the remodel opening...food was just okay..its nothing great. as long as they have the cream of chicken soup i guess its ok by me
I wanted to see the new remodeling and it still looks old, out of date, unappealing and bland. The brick walls inside, still make the place look dirty. The only thing that was old, yet cool about the Olympic Star was that old crane machine and that's gone.
Just skip it. It's not even worth the trip to see the remodeling.
I can't believe people put bad reviews of this place up. Many a night in my teenage years when I had no place to go, we went to the star to hang out drink cokes and eat fries and leave bad tips - in my 20s it was the place to go after a night on the town to fill your stomach before going home. Now Im picking my kids up there in the wee hours of the morning after there done hitting the bars. Never a complaint is heard from the mgmt when everyone shows up drunk at 3 in morning.
I drove by and read on their sign that they are re-opening soon - they are REMODELING! I heard that one of the owners bought out the other owners so now that there is only 1 guy in charge, he's dropping money to freshen the place up. Can't wait for them to reopen!
While I agree that 'The Star" has gone downhill and is in desperate need of remodeling, the owners are struggling to stay in business. They have astronomical real estate taxes - you have to sell lots of pie & coffee just to pay the taxes. Many of us from Tinley have fond memories of late nite breakfasts and great cream of chicken soup! Let's hope the Village of TP is doing inspections as it should and that the owners find a way to stay in business - after it cleans up its act.
Restaurant opened in 1978 and i think the food is still from 78...it is dirty..i hate to see whats in the kitchen..needs to update and clean up or it will be closing down..i didnt like skillet house either..had a bad lunch there...i stick with egg and i..which is very good for breakfast or lunch..Cracker Barrel too.
I agree with you Deb... the Skillet House II at 167th and 80th Ave is great! Very clean and very good food. Things used to be good at Olympic Star, but that was a very long time ago. Haven't been in there for many years. You can tell how business is just by looking at the parking lot. (empty) I thought the village has a person to inspect restaurants? It does need to be closed down and re-modeled and cleaned up! Sorry, Jim...
Jim, we haven't been there in years. Even back then, it was grungy and that's being polite. Try the Skillet House II on 167th & 80th Avenue. Great food, large portions and very reasonable prices.
this place is a dump! The place is old, dumpy, dirty, and needs to be updated. modernized, and cleaned. I had breakfast there last Sunday. Breakfast was ok. Eggs over easy over cooked, service brutal and the drink policy sucks. I ordered ice tea and my son a pepsi. The drinks come in small 6 ounce cups and you only get 2 refills. Oh, and the price $1.99. Give me a break. I used to eat here all the time. Never again. Too many other good options in Tinley. What a shame!

I say to all the complainers, take your butts and don't let the door hit you in the ask,go down to Coopers Hawk thats were you snooty askes belong.
