Shrek Musical at Marian HS do you have to buy the tickets before hand or can they be purchased atRead More the door? Every time I call the box office #708-756-9404 to get information it rings one time then goes to a busy signal.

Trying to distract from the fact that they have wild captured whales and dolphins in their poolsRead More that they kidnapped to exploit for money!

Learning how to take care of this whale species now will save it from extinction decades from nowRead More when their numbers are diminished through reckless hunting.

There are good reasons for certain institutions to capture wild creatures. WS mentioned one. ThatRead More said, there is the problem with over stocking of captured animals and not understanding them. Orcas are the primary example. Most orcas are not being captured for study but for profit. And when you have an 8 - 10 ton animal in an enclosed space your may have trouble - two trainers killed by the same orca. There are no recorded instances of orcas attacking humans in the wild - get one in a tank and even if the death is accidental you are still playing with fire - orcas are not dogs. They are highly intelligent creatures - actually the largest member of the dolphin family although their size resulted in their being termed "whale" many years ago and it has stuck. So I agree with both Gina and William on that subject. I am a little surprised that the Shedd is now expanding into a dog show as well. if that helps encourage people to adopt rescued dogs, great.

(20 ILCS 1605/2) (from Ch. 120, par. 1152) Sec. 2. This Act is enacted to implement andRead More establish within the State a lottery to be conducted by the State through the Department. The entire net proceeds of the Lottery are to be used for the support of the State's Common School Fund, except as provided in subsection (o) of Section 9.1 and Sections 21.2, 21.5, 21.6, 21.7, and 21.8. The annual salary of the Director is $142,000.

Ty, the even bigger political game was that the lottery was sold to ADD TO school funding. Instead,Read More what they did was to use the proceeds to REPLACE the existing funding. The net effect is the schools got about the same amount of money but the state got a huge windfall of new money (the old source of money that used to go to the schools) that they then used on port barrel spending to buy themselves more years at the public trough.

I would say his show is the worst thing on TV but The Colbert Report is pretty close.

Cracker thin crisp crust is the real Chicago pizza. Deep dish is good and I'll eat it happilyRead More several times a month. But it's something different than regular pizza. I think out of towners, people under 50, and deep dish restaurants are the ones that call it "Chicago style" pizza. It's deep dish, and we make it in Chicago. But it's not Chicago pizza.

I'm not confused at all, that's why they have professionals working the door these guys r cops theyRead More can spot people under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Worrying about ur 17yo son being punched in the face by a 22yo is a ridiculous statement. First this can happen at jewel and second hopefulky he was taught not to start any problems that may lead to that because I'm sure there will b fights just like at the OF fair every year but nobody boycotts that so just because its at a club doesn't make a difference. Let me clarify I do not condone smoking me and my husband do not smoke but both of our families do. If he is ranging his age limit to 22 than he has a right to have a smoking area, again it comes down to the morals and rules u have set for ur kids. Will they follow them? Who knows but u have to try and have some trust they will make the right decision. Legalizing smoking in schools is just a stupid statement and ur just pulling at strings now so I'll just ignore that. Again will teaching ur kids do u think a guy can't slip and spike ur daughters drink at mcdonalds or starbucks? I'm a substance abuse psych nurse and worked in a jail for 3yrs I've seen the kind of people that do this, u have to teach ur kids about people like that and like Dawn says teach them to never leave their drink unattended cause this can happen to them when their 30 and at a club so best they learn now. I kno the chances for all these things rise because of the setting but I feel the club is being proactive by hiring cops as their doorman. I do agree I wish the age limit was lowered not because I'm uncomfortable with that limit but because I would like my kids to go and they r only 13 & 15 also wish they would make the start time a little earlier but its their place to do as they want and goodluck to them.

I was at the city council meeting about the club. Someone brought up the issue that thw club ownerRead More had been accused or arrested for drugs in the state of Fla. The council said they would investigate the claim.I am not sure of the outoutcome. The person making the complaint brought some documentation, and gave it ti city council members, but I didn't see it.

"Kids"? You must mean Teens. TEENS 18 and older are allowed to be there until 3AM. As forRead More the petty "BUT THEREZ DRUNK DRIVERZZZ!111" concerns, there are drunk drivers every where at ANY given time. Drunk, buzzed, high, etc. It's not right, and it's definitely not okay, but this is life. If you're that concerned, maybe you should pick them up.

Okay-- so how long do you think it will take for them to set up separate categories forRead More "male" and "female" pole dancing? (Most) men are inherently stronger than (most) women, so the ability to pull off strength tricks will definitely NOT be on an "equal playing field". Just one more sign of the apocolypse...

@Bruce: You might want to read the entire story before commenting. Also, strength is judged in theRead More context of the individual, not across the board. But keep reading the story. —Joe Vince, Tinley Park-Oak Forest Patch Editor
