Francisco Espinal-Quiroz, 51, could face more charges in the highway deaths of four people Monday, July 21, including Ulrike Blopleh of Channahon.
Jp July 23, 2014 at 01:35 pm
It's was a horrible accident. My heart goes out to the families. The news did a cover story on thisRead More stretch of highway. It showed 172 accident 6 deaths and 58 injuries. The state needs to take a look into that. I do feel his bail is excessive. Let alone made him out to look like a murderer who intentionally did this. I guarantee he wishes it was him rather than to take 4 lives. I think there are many occupations that don't require log books yet these people have been up for 24 hrs + and they get behind the wheel. Yes he should be held responsible but There are people committing horrific crimes that don't get that kind of bail. I know when something horrible happens they want to throw the book at that person. Unfortunately nothing will change the outcome. A perfect example is cell phones. Many deaths have resulted from people causing accidents while on the phone. It's against the law to use them when driving but I see it every day. I will say people are responsible for there actions and there the only ones to blame. Don't put the blame on the state police. That's not on them. I feel for them and everyone on that scene because no doubt it was a horrific accident scene

Stop the revolving door of justice(nonjustice!)!! Once they are involved in a crime involving a gun,Read More they should be sentenced to Hard Labor.. That's right, just like the Old Days!! Many of the people posting here don't seem to actually understand how this all works. This personRead More was NOT arrested because the concerned woman called the police. The police ARRIVED because she called. If the officers determined there was nothing to get too excited about other than some ill-chosen words, they would have likely warned him to calm down and left the building. Once the officers arrive on the scene, the opinions or comments of the person who called are taken into consideration but then I'm pretty sure the officers spoke with the father, and likely also spoke with the children and the mother - AWAY FROM THE FATHER - and asked them what happened. Just like at the scene of an accident, the officers put one party in one squad car and the other party in another car so they can question them SEPARATELY. It is upon THEIR investigation that they make their decision on what to do next. In this case, they called DCFS and then "invited" this mope to be their "guest" for a while. If you think he was arrested just because the caller 'said so', you simply do not understand police procedure.

Ann W. July 23, 2014 at 10:13 pm
Karen's synopsis is very credible and logical. I work in a field that often involves the police andRead More child protective services. They don't have the resources or time to deal with frivolous situations. It is beyond more than likely that the police and DCFS observations yielded enough to intervene.

Yes, please catch the punks breaking into cars almost each and every night. They operate off ofRead More 167th street and originally would do their robbing between midnight and 4 AM. The other 2 or 3 serve as look outs. Please keep you vehicles locked at all times, especially if you have a garage door opener in there, you don't want them to have a free pass to your house. Hey wompbomp... I have a few questions/comments for you, kind sir... 1.)Do you have a job? Or do youRead More just sit on your arse all day trying to find the end of the internet until mommy makes you dinner? 2.)If you're so disgusted with the LW area... Why don't you move instead of staying here and beyotching about it? Shit or get off the pot dude. 3.)A lot of people sleep around regardless of the occupation, soooo umm... Way to keep it relevant bud.... Talking about how the firefighters enjoy eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches would have been just as relevant to this story as your "sikbern" about them enjoying hookers. 4.)At the end of the day, lives were lost and you're negating the sadness of that by bringing your crazy talk to this forum. Clearly you have personal issues with one/some of the brave and selfless first responders employed by the village of Mokena, and you've decided to "get your revenge" by posting "sikberns" on an open Internet forum... Does it make you feel better? Better make a passive aggressive away message for your aim profile too just to really make yourself feel like a big tough guy. 5.) Lastly, if you're that concerned with the whereabouts of hookers in this town, why don't you keep your mother and sister off the streets and help them find new jobs?! Sikbern
Eric Blair June 14, 2014 at 06:42 am
sCarah.83 “…brave and selfless first responders…”? Hardly, modernRead More firefighters, whether you choose to accept it or not have a cushy high paying job with early retirement, great pension, and a remote chance of job injury. Mokena once had a volunteer dept. that was probably better for a fraction of the cost. You probably don’t remember the flashing blue lights the guys had on their cars when responding. You yuppies with your easy and fake unearned money ruined this village. As for moving from this area I have a better idea, you move. This place was far better when it was “blue collar”.
