This Week's Pets: These Cocker Spaniels Could Star in Their Own Buddy Movie

Casey and Max are a canine odd couple in real life. But the oddest thing about them is why no one has snatched them up yet.

Felix and Oscar. Bill and Ted. Riggs and Murtagh. Casey and Max? OK, these two cocker spaniels haven't entered the pantheon of onscreen buddies, but that's because they don't have a good agent. Spend a few minutes with them, though, and you'll see they have a special chemistry that comes from living together. Unfortunately, their owner had to give them up when he lost his house, and they have been at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park since Sept. 25. Max, 8, is the friendly, fun-loving type. When he arrived at PAWS, he had a benign growth on his neck that was drained and removed and hasn't caused him any additional problems. Casey, 9, isn't as outgoing, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like being around people. He also has the lighter coat…

This Week's Pet: Meet Squirt, Agent Double-Oh-Cute

This 1-year-old domestic short hair is looking for a safe house to come in out of the cold. Find out how you can adopt her.

Squirt is a 1-year-old domestic short hair with a stealthy, curious side to her. Maybe that's why we're going with the James Bond theme for this installment (well, that, and we really want to see Skyfall). This inside cat has been at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park since March 15. She was found as a stray, so the shelter isn't sure how she is with kids and other animals. Squirt does have all her shots and is litter trained. But she will definitely need a scratching post. There is no information on whether Squirt has a license to kill (vermin, that is); it's classified. But we're absolutely positive that she hates martinis, shaken, stirred or otherwise. This Week's Pet: Snuggles Lives Up to Her Name

This 7-year-old feline is affectionate and easy going. Plus, she might be the only one in your home who gets your teenager.

Snuggles is a 7-year-old domestic medium hair cat who enjoys cuddling. She just needs to find an owner who will reciprocate. The cat has been at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park since Sept. 20, after its previous owner had to give Snuggles up because of a move to a new apartment that didn't allow cats. Although she's good around children, especially teens, Snuggles isn't a feline who enjoys the company of other pets. Snuggles is current on her shots and is litter trained. Looking for more adoptable pets? Baby, a playful orange, white and black striped cat, and Angel, a German Shepherd mix, still need a homes. Success stories include Millie, a lovable pointer mix found a new home, as did Patches the cat. Rosie and Lily, the pair of …

This Week's Pets: These Brothers Come as a Pair

Grayster and Zolton are waiting to move into a new home. Could it be yours? Read about them and see if these cats are for you.

A dynamic duo of black, domestic short-hair cats is staying at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park. They are originally from Mokena and were dropped off after the previous owner could no longer afford to keep them. The shelter volunteers are hoping that Grayster (who has a layer of white fur below a layer of black hair) and Zolton can be adopted out together. The brother cats came in together and should leave together. The cats are declawed in all four paws and should be kept as indoor cats. The pair also are litter box trained. Neither are aggressive and will do well with other cats. Zolton is definitely the more relaxed one of the two. Grayster is playful and likes to explore. Both are loving and friendly. If you're interested, contact …

This Week's Pet: A Terrier Mix Ready for Playtime

Samson, an energetic 2-year-old, needs a new home. Would he be a good for fit for you? Find out how you could make him your pet.

Samson is a tough dog to pin down. No, he's not feisty; he's just a stray from Tinley Park and not much is known about his background. The volunteers at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park said the 2-year-old dog is a Terrier mix but he certainly looks like he could pass for another breed of dog. He is definitely peppy enough to be a Terrier. Samson has energy to spare but isn't wild or frantic in any way. Toss him a ball and you'll quickly make a new best friend. A family that wants a playful dog will find Samson to be a good fit. If you're interested, contact PAWS at 815-464-7298 or visit the shelter's website. —By Palos Patch editor Nick Swedberg   Two Ways to Stay Connected to Tinley Park Patch:

This Week's Pet: Binny, an Easy Going Ball of Fluff

You can't tell from the video but this Bichon mix usually has a puffy coat.

Binny is sporting his summer look now. The good people at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park gave the 4-year-old Bichon mix a haircut recently. He came in resembling a giant cotton ball, according to pictures in his file. Binny was picked up from a high-kill shelter and is looking for a new home. Most smaller dogs you'll come across are highly energetic. Binny follows a much more laid back way of life. He is friendly, adventurous and enjoys the company of people. The one hiccup is that he still needs to be housebroken. A new owner will have to help Binny adjust to living indoors. If you're interested in adoption, contact the shelter at 815-464-7298 or visit its website. Some recent success stories include Buddy Boy, a gentle, green-eyed …

Adopt Me: Shadow Knows ... a Few Tricks

This pitbull and labrador mix is just waiting to be adopted.

It's tough to understand how Shadow has gone unadopted for the nearly a year. She's such an energetic and fun pup. But according to her trainer at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park, Shadow is equally content running around as she is sitting on the couch. Shadow also is learning quite a few tricks, including how to sit, heel and come when called. She's good with other dogs so, if you already have some, Shadow should fit in fine. She just tends to stay by herself when around other dogs. Ideally, Shadow would fit in a home that doesn't have young kids and with someone who would continue her training. If you're interested in her, contact the shelter at 815-464-7298 or visit its website. Looking for more adoptable pets? Gus, an orange domestic…

The Week's Pet: An Orange Buddy That Likes to Play

Gus is an orange domestic short hair and a skinny, little guy.

Gus is a little on the thin side and needs a lot of love. He is a rescue and has been at PAWS Animal Shelter for a few weeks. Gus was picked up off the streets but he gets along well with other cats and is friendly with people. He also loves to play. He's also skinny and could benefit from a few healthy meals. Looking for more adoptable pets? Plenty of kittens are still available for eager owners for $75 each. Recent success stories include Bailey, our expert ball catcher, Texas, who was adopted a couple of months after his friend, Erica; all five Mastiff-mix puppies, two of whom went to the same home; and adorable cat, Olivia.
