This Week's Pet: Fiona, a 3-Year-Old People Dog

It's time to watch the newest addition to our Adopt Me collection.

You've heard of a people person? Fiona is a people dog looking for a new home. The 3-year-old American Staffordshire terrier, who currently is staying at PAWS Animal Shelter, is a wonderful dog for someone who is a doesn't already own one. The volunteers at the shelter want to adopt her out to a home without any other pets already present. Fiona has been declawed and has no history of biting, making her great with children. She came to the shelter in February, making her one of the newest residents. Get News Alerts and Facebook Updates From These Patch Sites:

This Week's Pets: Calm Clyde and Tame Tinkerbell

Tinkerbell and Clyde are furry balls of calm. If you're looking for a lap cat that'll love you forever, these are the guys for you.

Since it's beginning, Adopt Me has often featured energetic dogs and playful cats. This week, Patch brings a pair of feline friends who are content with sitting on a lap. Would you like a pet who won't need much attention? Tinkerbell is an orange tabby cat who is 5-6 years old. She gets along without other pets but will probably do best in a home without any other cats, according to the good people at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park. Clyde is a 2-year-old domestic short hair whose favorite thing in the world is a good brushing. Both cats are ready for a new home. Get News Alerts and Facebook Updates From These Patch Sites:

This Week's Pets: PAWS' Unofficial Mascot and 2 BFFs

Misha is best known as the dog that hangs out behind the PAWS Animal Shelter counter. Jay Jay and Charlee have been together for 4 years.

Misha has stayed with PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park for more than a year. She's a lovable boxer who usually can be found hanging out with the people who run the shelter's front counter. Some remodeling work at the animal shelter has put her back in the kennels with the rest of the dogs. But that change of pace hasn't ruined this delightful animal's demeanor. Misha is eight years old, quiet and obedient. She's also adorable, in this editor's humble opinion. Doesn't that sound like a great combination? If your home has room for a couple new additions, you might want to take a look at best friends Jay Jay and Charlee. Charlee is a gorgeous, 4-year-old West Highland White Terrier who can do some tricks. His pal is Jay Jay, a Chihuahua mix…

Misha is one of the most loving dogs here at PAWS. Why would you want a puppy when you could adopt a dog who is house trained, obedient, quiet, low maintenance, and content to just "hang out" with a family who loves her? We love that Misha is our mascot at the shelter, but this girl deserves better. Please come visit her at PAWS and see for yourself what a sweetheart she is.   more ›

This Week's Pets: Spirited Kittens Ready to Play

Mittens and Spencer are about a week away from being ready to adopt out in Tinley Park.

What's better than a kitten? How about two? A pair of 4-month-old kittens were recently dropped off at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park. Mittens and Spencer are about a week away from being ready for adoption. The wonderful people at the shelter need to arrange for a final shot for the black-haired cats before they can go out to a new home. The cats came to PAWS after the previous owner gave them up due to allergies. Both like to play and, as you might expect for young cats, are energetic. Spencer, especially, likes to chase balls around. Potential adopters don't need to take the pair together; the kittens are young enough to adopt separately. This Week's Pets: Young Cats Want New Friends

Lucy Lou and Stosh are waiting at PAWS Animal Shelter for new homes.

Two cute and cuddly cats from PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park are ready for a new place to live. Lucy Lou is a 3-year-old domestic short hair cat. She was a stray and still has her claws but is known around the shelter for being a lap cat. Lucy's inclination is to find a place to hide and will probably find her way into an open box. Her playful personality will mesh well with a new owner. Stosh, a 4-year-old domestic short hair, is one of the most easy-going cats you'll meet. He's great with children and is very playful. Stosh also has his front paws declawed. Pets with new homes Here are some success stories from PAWS: Want News Headlines and Updates Delivered to Your Inbox? This Week's Pet: A Playful, Obedient Lab Boxer Mix

Meet Scarlett, an adorable mix of great breeds who likes to play fetch.

Scarlett is a two-and-half year old Boxer Lab mix, with reddish brown fur, and a lot of love to give. She's been with PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park since November when she was found as a stray. Scarlett is playful, will sit on command and enjoys a good game of fetch. Scarlett weighs about 65 pounds, so she's better off around families with older children.  Please give her a great home. This Week's Pets: These Cocker Spaniels Could Star in Their Own Buddy Movie

Casey and Max are a canine odd couple in real life. But the oddest thing about them is why no one has snatched them up yet.

Felix and Oscar. Bill and Ted. Riggs and Murtagh. Casey and Max? OK, these two cocker spaniels haven't entered the pantheon of onscreen buddies, but that's because they don't have a good agent. Spend a few minutes with them, though, and you'll see they have a special chemistry that comes from living together. Unfortunately, their owner had to give them up when he lost his house, and they have been at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park since Sept. 25. Max, 8, is the friendly, fun-loving type. When he arrived at PAWS, he had a benign growth on his neck that was drained and removed and hasn't caused him any additional problems. Casey, 9, isn't as outgoing, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like being around people. He also has the lighter coat…
