Defense: Throw Out Arrest of Drifter Accused in Sex Assault

A public defender for Dennis Dodson, the drifter accused of sexually assaulting a then-83-year-old woman near Tinley Park, is filing a motion to quash the arrest based on the identification of Dodson in a photo array.

A public defender for a homeless man accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman is questioning the photo identification of her client and announced Thursday that she is filing a motion to get his arrest thrown out. Dennis Dodson, 36, is currently in Cook County jail and appeared in Judge John J. Hynes' Bridgeview courtroom in his customary khaki Department of Corrections uniform and ponytail. Prosecutors say on Sept. 26, 2011, Dodson wrestled an elderly woman to the ground, and sexually assaulted her behind the Home Depot at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue in Orland Park where he was living at the time. Group Led by 'Scream'-Masked Attacker Try to Steal Man's Cell Phone

As many as five suspects assaulted a Tinley Park man in an attempt to take his cell phone Tuesday night as he walked through Nasebandt Park.

A 20-year-old Tinley Park man was attacked Tuesday by as many as five assailants led by a suspect in a Scream-style mask who tried to steal his cell phone, according to a Tinley Park Police report. Orland Park Drifter Pleads Not Guilty to Rape, Assault

Prosecutors continue to gather evidence, prepare to test DNA samples.

A drifter accused of violently molesting an 83-year-old Good Samaritan and threatening a man behind the Orland Park Home Depot this summer pleaded not guilty on Thursday. Dennis Dodson, 35, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, and assault. Prosecutors allege that, in September, Dodson wrestled an elderly woman to the ground—forcefully inserting his finger—behind the Home Depot, at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue, where he was living at the time. She had offered Dodson food and crackers two days prior, and returned to tell him she was working to find him a shelter. Tinley Cops Arrest Reported Rabble-Rousers After Beer Garden Scuffle

Verbal altercation turns physical, leads to two arrests.

Cops found themselves in a Tinley Park beer garden last week after getting a call about a man who was asking patrons to "take their shirts off and was laying on the concrete patio, near the window to the bar, rolling around and kicking," according to a police report. A woman at the Tinley Park Bowling Lanes on 183rd Street threw a piece of ice at the 31-year-old man around 10:40 p.m. on June 29, according to the report. Police learned the man was Sam T. Trevino, of the 7500 block of Woodlawn Drive in Frankfort. The ice tosser said she was trying to get his attention so she could tell him to stop drinking. Cops are on the prowl for an 18-year-old Blue Island man after they said he pulled a stun gun on a party-goer outside Chuck E. Cheese over the weekend. The man is wanted for criminal damage and assault after he reportedly approached a 19-year-old Orland Park man who showed up Saturday at the suspect’s child's birthday party at the popular fun house, 16090 S. Harlem Ave. in Tinley Park. The victim is dating the suspect's former girlfriend, who is the child's mother, according to the report. 'Ex-Military' Man Threatens 71-Year-Old Woman, Others in Drunken Parking Lot Encounter

Police issued the man, who lives in Tinley Park, three assault charges.

Kenneth Barnett, 58, of the 6400 block of 180th Street, Tinley Park, accused of screaming at and punching the car windows of a man in a parking lot, then threatening the man's three sisters, was charged with three counts of assault. Barnett was almost hit while the man was pulling into a parking spot at the lot on 17302 Oak Park Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. May 4, police said. Barnett, who police described as drunk, also advanced on the man’s three sisters – ages 53, 60 and 71 – threatening to "Punch your _____ face in," when they yelled at him to stop or they would pepper spray him, police said. An Orland Park man was attacked and robbed while walking through the field behind Christa McAuliffe Elementary School at 7:30 p.m. March 7, police said. According to police, the man said he was approached by four white males, about 16 to 17 years old, who asked him if he had any marijuana on him. When the man replied he didn’t, the four teens threw him to the ground and kicked him in the back several times before running off with $40 and the man's cell phone, police said. The man said he was walking across the field to meet a female friend but when asked by police, took them to the wrong house, police said.
