Special Prosecutor Won't Prosecute Will County Board Member's Son

A special prosecutor brought in to try Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son for battery dropped the case but is still going after two pals of the young man. The fathers of these two men are not on the county board.

When Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son was first arrested for allegedly whipping a man with his belt, he only faced charges of misdemeanor battery and mob action. Then the mob action charge went away, and now he's charged with nothing. A special prosecutor called in to try Wilhelmi's 21-year-old son, Alex Wilhelmi of 1108 Taylor St., Joliet, dropped the case Thursday morning. But David Neal of the Special Prosecution Unit of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor's office is still going after the two men arrested along with Alex Wilhelmi on July 1. Daniel Duffy, 23, of 503 Wilcox St. faces a charge of battery and Manuel Borrego, 24, of 319 Hunter Ave. is up for both battery and drunken driving. Duffy and Borrego do not have…

Tinley Park Police reports, Oct. 11 • Woman charged with retail theft, caught with infant child • Underage patron tussles with bar's security guards.

THURSDAY, OCT. 11 Neven Samy Rizk Abdelmalak, 25, of the 7100 block of West 166th Street, was charged with retail theft after being arrested for stealing almost $235 worth of merchandise from Kohl's, 7500 W. 191st St. Abdelmalak was with the store's loss prevention agent when officers arrived at around 3:01 p.m., the report stated. The agent told police Abdelmalak came into Kohl's around 4:40 p.m., pushing her infant child in a stroller. Abdelmalak then picked out various jewelry, perfumes and clothing and went into a changing area, the report continued. SATURDAY, OCT. 6 Niruben P. Patel, 49, of the 5800 block of West 158th Place in Oak Forest, was charged with retail theft after being arrested for stealing $124.92 worth of merchandise from Super Kmart, 16300 Harlem Ave. A loss prevention officer at the store observed Patel put items in her pockets starting around 6:30 p.m. Police found her with the following merchandise when they arrived after being called by the loss prevention officer: She was arrested and released on $1,500 bond. WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 12 A facilitator for the Assistive Technology Exchange Network, a division of United Cerebal Palsy, 7550 W. 183rd St., reported to police that three catalytic converters from three UCP works had been stolen between Sept. 11 and 12. The trucks were parked in the west lot at the UCP office building, according to the report. The facilitator said the converters were valued at $600 each, the report stated. SUNDAY, SEPT. 9 Shane M. Man Accused of Shoving Bouncer at Durbin's

The cops rolled up to a downtown Tinley Park bar just in time to see a man getting rough with employees, they said.

Police said a 24-year-old Joliet man was arrested in downtown Tinley Park early Saturday after he shoved a security guard outside a bar. Sean M. Hannon, 24, of the 8200 block of Clairidge Drive in Joliet, faces a battery charge. Tinley Park police officers said they found Hannon outside Durbin's, 17265 Oak Park Ave., arguing with two employees. The bar's manager and bouncer denied Hannon entry to the bar around 11 p.m. Friday "due to his level of intoxication," according to the police report. He became belligerent and left the property only to return a little more than an hour later around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. Police Arrest 19-Year-Old in Connection With a Lead Pipe Attack

Tinley Park police charged a man with battery, accusing him of hitting another man with a pipe.

Tinley Park police arrested a 19-year-old this week who they believe is connected to a local attack in which two people used a lead pipe to hit a 22-year-old man. Alexander C. Garcia, 19, of the 18000 block of 66th Avenue in Tinley Park, was arrested around 4 p.m. Tuesday and charged with battery causing bodily harm. The cops were notified by an emergency room nurse at Palos Community Hospital around 4:30 a.m., who said she was treating a man who had been struck in the head with a pipe. The victim had two 1-inch lacerations in his head, according to the report, and needed staples. Cops: Intoxicated Man Passes Out on Sidewalk Outside Teehan's, Then Becomes Combative

Police charged a drunken man with battery on Monday night.

Tinley police arrested an intoxicated man shortly before 9 p.m. Monday who was found face down on an Oak Park Avenue sidewalk. Officers were dispatched to the walk outside Teehan's, 17329 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park, at 8:54 p.m., according to the report. Callers had said Timothy J. Ficker, 27, was passed out there. When the cops arrived, Ficker, of Lockport, was alert and talking. "(An officer) learned from subjects outside of the bar that the suspect was asked to leave Teehan's due to his intoxicated state," the report said. "Trace paramedics arrived on scene and spoke with suspect who refused medical assistance." Cops: Bus Rider Jacks Another Woman in the Face After She Talks About Her 'Mama'

A fight interrupted a Pace bus route in Tinley Park last week.

A Pace driver curbed his bus in Tinley Park to call the cops last week when one of his passengers socked another in the face. An argument erupted between two women on the bus around 2:35 p.m. Oct. 6, according to the report. It led to Helen L. Sanford, 22, of the 3300 block of Commercial Avenue in South Chicago Heights being charged with one count each of battery and criminal damage to property. Tinley Park police were called to the stopped bus at 183rd Street and Ridgeland Avenue around 2:46 p.m. that day. Verbal altercation turns physical, leads to two arrests.

Cops found themselves in a Tinley Park beer garden last week after getting a call about a man who was asking patrons to "take their shirts off and was laying on the concrete patio, near the window to the bar, rolling around and kicking," according to a police report. A woman at the Tinley Park Bowling Lanes on 183rd Street threw a piece of ice at the 31-year-old man around 10:40 p.m. on June 29, according to the report. Police learned the man was Sam T. Trevino, of the 7500 block of Woodlawn Drive in Frankfort. The ice tosser said she was trying to get his attention so she could tell him to stop drinking.
