Trial Date Set in Outriggers Assault Case

Donovan Campbell, 42, of Mokena, who has been charged with the assault of a Tinley Park restaurant manager, will have his day in court, starting Jan. 15.

The defense attorney for a Mokena man accused of assaulting a Tinley Park restaurant manager wants a witness to testify that the manager has had previous confrontations with customers.

The defense attorney for a Mokena man accused of assaulting a Tinley Park restaurant manager argued Wednesday, Oct. 10, that a woman who had a previous run-in with the alleged victim should be allowed to testify at a trial. April 8 Claire MacElhinney, 20, of the 9600 block of Kolmar Avenue in Oak Lawn, was charged with DUI, speeding and improper lane usage. Police said they received an anonymous call about a possible drunken driver and stopped MacElhinney’s car in the 15900 block of Harlem Avenue around 2 a.m. for drifting between lanes. She was also clocked at driving 53 mph in a 40 mph zone, police said. Two men believed to have stolen a bale of recyclable cardboard from a supermarket in the 16000 block of Harlem Avenue on April 2 were arrested but released without theft charges. Police said they were patrolling the area of Oak Park Avenue and 167th Street when they saw a truck resembling the one seen earlier on the store’s surveillance footage. They …

Store Worker Thwarts Theft and Takes a Beating

An employee at a beauty supply shop was punched and slapped by four people after she stopped one from stealing.

A beauty supply shop employee was pummeled by four people after she caught one of them trying to steal a straightening iron, according to police. A man repeatedly punched the female shop employee and three of his female companions hit her with bags at about 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at Sally Beauty Supply, 7260 191st St. Police said the employee noticed one of the women put a straightening iron in her bag. She confronted the woman, taking the iron and telling her and the others to leave, which they initially refused to do, police said. When they did depart, the man allegedly knocked over some baskets on his way out the door. When the employee went outside to confront him, he punched her and the women struck her with bags before driving off, …
