For Allison and Bill Brya of Frankfort every day is an uphill battle, tending to the needs of two children with severe disabilities. While it has drained their finances, it's also strengthened their resolve to love one another. Allison Brya is the voice for her daughter, 7-year-old Bella, who cannot walk or play. The Frankfort Area Jaycees are holding a benefit Tuesday at Hilda Walker Intermediate School to help the family of Bella and Liam Brya, who both have rare health disorders.
When Bella Brya was 2 years old, she collapsed at home because of a brain aneurism. “In a couple minutes’ time, our lives changed forever,” said Allison, Bella’s mother. Today, Bella is a 7-year-old student in Lincoln-Way Area Special Education District 843. She is homebound and currently receives physical therapy, occupational therapy and sleep therapy. The Frankfort Area Jaycees are hosting Pizza for Bella, a fundraiser to help cover the Brya family’s medical expenses, on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
