YESTERDAY: We met Tinley Park newlyweds Kurt and Julie Dekker, childhood sweethearts who ran into each other after 16 years when Kurt was called to fix Julie's broken window. Now another 16 years later, the two have wed and perform as the clown duo of Cazoo and Loopy. When Julie's broken window reacquainted the pair, both were married to other people. But they became friends, Kurt even performing as Cazoo at Julie's children's birthdays. Years passed, children grew and marriages disintegrated. Kurt was diagnosed with and treated for a rare form of lymphoma that attacks the immune system. Since a procedure four years ago, he is cancer-free. The bride wore white. The groom wore clown shoes. They were the formal clown shoes, though. The ones with the spats. It was, after all, his wedding day. The Corvettes, a barbershop quartet of members of The Singing Men of Note, hummed "Sentimental Journey" over the small crowd's clackers, maracas and whistles as bride and groom exchanged vows in the Vogt Visual Arts Center gazebo that evening of Sept. 10, 2010.
