Dogs Take Over Tinley Parks
At the yearly Dog Day in the Park, the canines of Tinley Park and their owners come out to play at McCarthy Park.
It was one of the only days of the year that the dogs had control of the park. The yearly Dog Day in the Park has contests, activities and vendors for the dogs of Tinley Park. This year, an estimated 50 dogs and their families came to the Dog Day at McCarthy Park on Sunday. "It's more of a networking for dogs," said Sandy Chevalier, superintendent of recreation for the park district, which has sponsored the event for the past six years. "People and their pets are special, and we wanted an activity for the owners and their pets." Tinley has many pet owners, and they are typically discouraged from walking their pets in the park, Chevalier said. She added that there is only one area where dogs can be walked.
