Grabowski Grabs GOP Nod for 3rd District in Decisive Win

Hometown materials-supervisor faces Congressman Dan Lipinski in 3rd Congressional race in November.

Materials-supervisor Rich Grabowski handily won the Republican nomination in the Illinois 3rd Congressional District. Grabowski, a constitutional conservative, faces Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski in November. The Hometown man beat Western Springs-attorney Jim Falvey in a 2-to-1 landslide. Perennial fringe candidate and Holocaust denier Arthur J. Jones of Lyons came in a distant third. Grabowski won 59 percent of the vote with 20,536, followed by Falvey with 29 percent or 10,287, and Jones capturing 10 percent with 3,797. Asked what he was going to do next, Grabowski answered, “sleep.” “I haven’t done that for awhile,” he continued. “Tomorrow I will start work at 6:30 a.m.” Grabowski won endorsements from Orland, Worth and Palos …

St. Xavier's National Championship Football Team Will Be Honored at Assembly

Local and state legislators will join in historic celebration of St. Xavier University's national championship football season.

Some political bigwigs want to meet and greet Saint Xavier University’s football big wigs. State senator Ed Maloney, congressman Dan Lipinski, city alderman Matt O’Shea and state representatives Kelly Burke and Bill Cunningham will join St. Xavier president Christine Wiseman at a special assembly to honor the Cougars’ national championship football team. The assembly will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 17) at Saint Xavier’s Shannon Center, 3700 West 103rd Street. “It’s going to be one of the greatest afternoons in the history of SXU athletics,” Saint Xavier athletic director Bob Hallberg said in a news release. “We anticipate a large turnout from the community as well as the university faculty, staff and especially students as we celebrate …

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed into law Friday a map outlining new Congressional district lines that will overhaul representation for Tinley Park. Under the updated boundaries, Tinley will no longer be fall under the jurisdiction of Rep. Judy Biggert (R-13th) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-11th). Effective in November 2010, the majority of the village will be in the hands of Rep. Bobby Rush (D-1st), with parts under Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (R-2nd) and Rep. Daniel Lipinski, (D-3rd).
