A judge won't reconsider Dawn Hamill's sentence for her conviction connected to a 2011 raid of her Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. Prosecutors also dropped other charges related to the raid.
A Cook County judge denied a motion Monday, Oct. 29 to reconsider the sentence of Dawn Hamill, the owner of local animal rescue who was convicted of eight misdemeanor counts of violation of owner's duties. Hamill, 43, was charged with those misdemeanor counts, as well as two counts of animal cruelty, in connection to the condition of animals that were found during a Feb. 11, 2011, raid on Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Tinley Park. The new attorney for Dawn Hamill, owner of Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, wants the judge to reconsider her order to allow the return of animals taken from Hamill's shelter.

Dawn Hamill, the owner of Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, has a hearing scheduled for Thursday, according to Cook County Circuit Court records.
Though details weren't immediately clear, the owner of a Tinley Park animal rescue convicted of violating her duties will be back in a Markham courtroom on Thursday, Oct. 18. Cook County Circuit Court records show that Dawn Hamill, 43, filed a motion to substitute an attorney in the case. Hamill is scheduled to appear in Judge Anna Helen Demacopolous' court. Workers from the Animal Welfare League picked up animals from Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary on Wednesday, the same day an impromptu hearing clarified a judge's sentencing orders.
Animals being housed at Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary were removed by from the three-acre property Wednesday, Oct. 3, the day after the rescue's owner was sentenced on eight counts of misdemeanor violation of owner's duties. A day after she was found guilty on eight counts of violation of owner's duties in her animal neglect case, Dawn Hamill, owner of Dazzle's Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, presented her side of the legal proceedings to the court of public opinion, telling a reporter from Sun-Times Media that her biggest mistake was employing the wrong person. “As an owner, I hired the wrong employee," Hamill said, referring to Christine Kelly, who testified against Hamill. Six witness took the stand for the prosecution Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the first full day of the trial of Dawn Hamill, who is accused of misdemeanor animal neglect after animals were removed from a raid of her Dazzle’s Painted Pastures Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. The trial was briefly delayed while Judge Anna Helen Demacopolous questioned a juror about whether she had been approached by anyone about the case during a recess the day before. I love this Judge she is awesome, but why drop other charges? can't get greedy I guess. Her poor ex-husband having to pay her $4,000.00 a month, really? that is insane. I heard she may have property in Indiana don't know how true it is but maybe that is where all her horses disappeared to. more ›
