Local Cops Stake Out Doughnut Shops for Charity

You'll find Tinley Park police officers on Dunkin' Donuts rooftops today, raising money and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers from throughout the state are taking to Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops today to benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Beginning at 5 a.m., Tinley Park police are standing posts at Dunkin' Donuts10th annual "Cop on a Rooftop" event. The day is meant to raise awareness and money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which benefits Special Olympics Illinois. ”We set records every year with the event, and we have high expectations for this year," Illinois Torch Run Director and Sherman Police Chief Eric Smith said in a press release. “The story speaks for itself. Hundreds of Doughnuts Dumped on Tinley Park Resident's Lawn

Police said several bags filled with doughnuts were littered on a lawn on West 164th Street, and this wasn't the first time it's happened.

A Tinley Park woman called the cops over the weekend after finding hundreds of doughnuts littered about her lawn. And it wasn't the first time, she told Tinley Park police. Saturday's incident was the fourth of its kind in the 8200 block of West 164th Street, where trash bags from a local Dunkin Donuts were dumped and broken, according to the police report. The resident didn't report the past three incidents, she said, but found the most recent bags around 9 p.m. Saturday. They were split open so their contents—mostly Dunkin Donuts drink cups, paper products and dirty napkins—were strewn about the property, according to the report. @SouthSide, it's easy for you to say "no harm done." It's obvious that you were not the one who had to clean up the lawn, or clean the vehicles that had crap smeared all over them. I can only imagine what your home looks like!   more ›
