Mayoral Candidate's FOIA Requests Adding Up for Village

Village Cleark Pat Rea released a report during the TInley Park village board meeting that detailed mayoral candidate Steve Eberhardt's $18,000 of Freedom of Information Act requests in the last 13 months, including $9,000 in the last month alone, Sun-Tim

The cost of the Village fulfilling Freedom of Information Act requests from mayoral candidate Steve Eberhardt is adding up—to the tune of more than $18,000 over the last 13 months, Sun-Times Media reports. During Tinley Park's village board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, village clerk Pat Rea released a FOIA request report just weeks after Eberhardt used a FOIA request to file a challenge against Mayor Ed Zambrocki. Rea said the timing of his report was due to the entire board not meeting since November of last year, according to Sun-Times Media. Over the last 13 months, Eberhardt filed more than $18,000 in FOIA requests, including more than $9,000 in the last month alone, the report said. Eberhardt questioned the timing of Rea's report, but…

Lets not stoop to a low level. The Mayor is with his wife now, and they may have been separated years ago, so? EBBY is on Wife 2.0, so? Like you said EBBY is going to be haunted over how he dragged getting divorced and fired through the courts of his own volition, and losing both I might add! Self inflicted wounds. Just like the big Photo scandal! He withdrew his claim because the hearing officer…   more ›

Incumbents Remove Village-Funded Photos from Campaign Site

Following a complaint by several challengers to four incumbents' use of village-funded photos on their reelection website, the incumbents removed the photos as of Thursday, Jan. 31.

Days after a complaint was filed over four Tinley Park incumbents' use of village-funded photos on their reelection website, www.TeamTinley.com, the photos were removed as of Jan. 28, Sun-Times Media reports. Earlier this week, mayoral candidate Steve Eberhardt, and trustee candidates Karen Weigand, Andrew DeLuca and Nancy Petro, filed the complaint with the Illinois State Board of Elections. The complaint was levied against Mayor Ed Zambrocki and trustees Brian Maher, Dave Seaman and T.J. Grady. Village Cleck Pat Rea was also named in the complaint, according to the report. The photos were replaced by shots of the incumbent candidates at an outdoor event, with the contested photos completely removed from the TeamTinley.com home page. …

If rules mattered to Ebby he wouldn't have lied in court about his lack of funds from his failing law practice for his child support and wouldn't have been fired for being a creepy liar at the states attorneys office. Jack O'Malley fired him and it held up in a court case Ebby lost. If your thinking Eberhardt or any of his unthinking puppets this election think again please. I'd rather see Blaggo…   more ›

How I spent my trip to Saint Louis Of course it is entirely possible that Eberhardt was fired not because he wrote a novel but because of the methods he employed in gathering material for it. If someone wanting to write a murder mystery decided he really ought to find out what it feels like to be a murderer and so he went out and killed someone, his punishment for murder would not raise any issue…   more ›

Challengers File Complaint Over Incumbents' Campaign Photos

A complaint was filed Jan. 28 against Mayor Ed Zabrocki and trustees Brian Maher, Dave Seaman and T.J. Grady by four challengers in the April 9 election. The complaint centers on campaign photos used at www.TeamTinley.com.

Tinley Park Mayor Ed Zabrocki, Village Clerk Pat Rea, and trustees Brian Maher, Dave Seaman and T.J. Grady, were all named in a complaint that alleges taxpayer money was used to fund campaign photos, Sun-Times Media reports. The complaint was filed by Zabrocki's opponent Steve Eberhardt, and trustee candidates Karen Weigand, Andrew DeLuca and Nancy Petro. If the incumbents are of the same mindset as their rude supporters, no wonder they go and hide. I bet the challengers would be happy to have people like carol meow show up at a meet n greet and ask questions. I also bet that she would not have the courage to appear in public and mudsling like she does here.   more ›

Challenge Dismissed, D228 Board President Will Remain on Ballot

Bremen High School District Board of Education President Deb Stearns will stay on the April 9 ballot, after the district's education officers electoral board voted to dismiss several challenges to her candidacy.

Bremen High School District 228 Board of Education President Deb Stearns will remain on the April 9 ballot, following the dismissal of a challenge to her candidacy. At a Jan. 23 special meeting of the D228 Education Officers Electoral Board, members dismissed resident Steve Szabo's challenge due to a, "failure to state the interest of the objector," one of five motions Stearns's lawyer made to dismiss the challenge at a meeting earlier in January. “The courts have said there doesn't have to be much of one, but you've got to have one,” said Mike Davies, president pro-temp of the board. “When I review Mr. Szabo's objection, I don't see anything that resembles, or comes close to resembling that issue.” Szabo was not present at the Jan. 23 …

Williams is an elitist-only cares about the top 5% that is why Bremen and Hillcrest are never EVER part her plans for improvement. This is a Kendall hire-another paid assasin who does the dirty work for him. Someone should ask what Stearns, Kendall and the other stooges have done to help Hillcrest rather than condemn them....   more ›

D228 Board President's Candidacy Still Up in the Air

District 228 Board of Education President Deb Stearns filed for candidacy for the April 9 election. Her petition to appear on the ballot is being challenged by Ron Szabo. The matter was continued to Jan. 23 during a hearing Jan. 11.

Bremen High School District 228 school board president Deb Stearns and the rest of the school district community will have to wait a little longer to find out if she will be on the April 9 ballot. Resident Ronald Szabo objected to her candidacy, and appeared before the district's Education Officers Electoral Board on Friday, Jan. 11. During the special meeting of the electoral board, Stearns's lawyer, John Murphy, outlined a motion to dismiss Ron Szabo's objections to her candidacy. Murphy spent the majority of the nearly half-hour meeting explaining why the electoral board should dismiss the objections before answering questions from the board about his motion. Murphy said there were several reasons to dismiss the challenge, the first …

What have you accomplished by attending your bored meeting??? Let's have a public debate on the issues of D228. Their meetings are scripted with much bad acting. I would like to see people using the web to debate specific issues. What can you tell me about their drastic changes in curriculum. I recently heard Bremen's class of 2013 will have an average ACT of 17, That bothers me. I want to change…   more ›

The Dos and Don'ts of Political Campaign Signs

It's not OK to place political campaign signs everywhere. Nor is it all right to include certain words on those signs. Do you know the rules? Do you know what to do if you see a sign that doesn't follow those rules?

There's no doubt you've seen the signs around town. Most often red and blue but sometimes green, campaigns signs are dotting shoulders of our local roadways. Candidates and political supporters usually post the signs in places they'll get your attention—a busy intersection or the entrance to a frequently visited hot spot. Officials recognize political candidates' need to advertise their positions, but for aesthetic and safety reasons, the Village of Tinley Park regulates temporary signage.   Gov. Pat Quinn signed a proposal a law June 2010 that would bar municipalities from regulating when campaign signs can go up on residential properties. The new law would essentially allow homeowners to put up signs year-round. The Quinn administration …
