Officials have said they're expecting about 20,000 people to come to downtown Tinley Park on Sunday for the annual Caribbean Beach Block Party—the biggest party of the summer. Will you be there?
Downtown Tinley Park will transform this weekend to become the tropical land that reflects the recent summertime heat. The 14th Annual Caribbean Beach Block Party will take over Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets between noon and 7 p.m. Sunday. Games, music, entertainment and trolley rides are all free to the public. The event also boasts a mini "Taste of Tinley" and a classic car show. Sunday's beach party is one of the most popular events in the village all year, coordinators have said. It's expected to draw about 20,000 people to the downtown area. It features live musical performances by four bands, which will play on two different stages near the Oak Park Avenue Metra Station. Representatives from the MainStreet Commission…

The locally owned mom-and-pop pizza shop has been on Oak Park Avenue for 34 years, Martino said. During the first year of Cruise Nights in 2011, employees began selling pizza by the slice and refreshments. They were doing so Tuesday, as well. More than 200 cars were parked along the avenue, in downtown lots and at the Oak Park Avenue Metra station, said Trustee Brian …

The sounds of sleigh bells filled the streets of downtown Tinley Park over the weekend as old fashioned horse-drawn carriages made their way up and down Oak Park Avenue. Along the horses' routes was The Landmark Church, Museum and Schoolhouse — home to the Tinley Park Historical Society — where children worked on crafts. Hundreds shopped under the big tent known as the Tinley Park Holiday Market. While local business' sold Christmas items, dancers from Heart & Sole entertained the crowds. Ice carvers from the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts program amazed the crowd with their reindeer creations. Visitors took a break from the cold on Saturday and Sunday to enjoy classic Holiday movies at Landmark Church. Look for yourself or see what …
