Crash With Parked Car Brings DUI Charges: Blotter

Tinley Park police reports, March 7-9 • Woman reports stolen identity • Alsip man arrested on outstanding warrant • 70-year-old man caught taking more than $110 in groceries from Super Target.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9 A 39-year-old Tinley Park woman told police she believed her Discover card was being used without her consent, according to a Tinley Park police report. She had received an email confirmation from Hot Wire regarding a hotel reservation at La Quinta Inn in Tinley Park for March 7, which was made without her knowledge. She also discovered an order for $116.88 made with another business that she did not authorize. She called Discover and canceled her credit card before making the report with police. Blotter: Purse Stolen From Parked Car Leads to ID Theft

Tinley Park Police reports, Nov. 6-13 • GPS and I-PASS lifted from vehicle • iPod stolen from parked SUV • Tool bag and purse taken; combined contents worth almost $500 • Copper wire stolen from construction site.

TUESDAY, NOV. 6 A Garmin GPS, an I-PASS tollway transponder, cell phone charger and a digital camera were taken from an 2007 Ford Explorer parked in a residential driveway in the 17900 block of 66th Avenue, according to a police report. The SUV was parked in the driveway from the evening of Nov. 4 to the morning of Nov. 5, and the passenger door lock was damaged, the report stated. SATURDAY, NOV. 10 An 8-gigabyte iPod and its charger was taken from a Chevrolet Traverse parked in a residential driveway in the 7900 block of West 163rd Court, according to a police report. Dear Editor: On Saturday, November 12, 2011, Orland Township hosted its final “Sustainable Saturday,” one of 10 electronics recycling events held since November 2010. From the beginning, the support and participation displayed by residents has been overwhelming, and I would like to thank each individual who contributed to the cause. Because of those willing to donate, each month was a tremendous success. Two hundred and twenty eight tons of electronics, in total, were collected in the past year, a figure that could never have been anticipated. The most recent and final “Sustainable Saturday” took place simultaneously alongside the “‘Can’ Do Food Drive,” held to benefit the Orland Township Food Pantry, as well as “Shred-A-Thon,” an …

Bikes Stolen From Train Stations; Wrist Watch Missing From Microwave

TUESDAY, NOV. 15 Police said someone cut a cable lock to snag a bicycle from the 80th Avenue Metra Station, 18001 80th Ave. in Tinley Park. The bike cable and lock were left on the ground at the rack where the bike once was. The victim said he believed his ride was stolen between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. MONDAY, NOV. 14 A man living in the 17300 block of Ottawa Avenue in Tinley Park said that sometime between 10 p.m. Nov. 10 and 6:40 a.m. Nov. 14, someone slashed the passenger side and rear tire of two vehicles that were parked in his driveway. TUESDAY, APRIL 19 A 67-year-old man from the 8800 block of 172nd Street told police he noticed three transactions on his bank statement that he and his wife never made. The card had been used three times at a Walmart Super Center in Belvidere, Ill., on April 17 for a total of $1,237, police said. The man said his bank had already declined other purchases on the card. MONDAY, APRIL 18 Sami M. Ilaiwi, 30, of the 6400 block of 64th Place in Chicago, was charged with retail theft after stealing a pocket knife and a package of lip balm, police said.
