Meet and Cheese: Car Salesman Fired for Wearing a Packers Tie Starts a New Job

John Stone, who was recently hired at Chevrolet of Homewood after being fired for wearing a Packers necktie, appreciates the support and contemplates legal action against his old employer.

John Stone was recently fired from Webb Chevrolet in Oak Lawn for wearing a Green Bay Packers necktie. The next day, Chevrolet of Homewood offered him a job while he was doing an on-air television interview. After four days and a frenzy of media activity, the South Sider from the Roseland community has resumed his life as a car salesman. Today was his first day back on the sales floor. John says he is planning to take legal action against Webb Chevrolet. He is not eager to go through the process, saying that it will, “open old wounds,” however he is commited to following through with it. But for right now, John is happy to get back to selling cars. Paul, I am a DIE HARD Green Bay Packer fan and proud owner of one share of Packer stock. The Packers are the ONLYprofessional sports team to be publicly owned. The Packers are the most fan-friendly team in sports. In summer training camp, players will ride the bikes of area kids the 2 blocks from the locker room to the practice facility, while the kids carry the player's helmet. This is so cool!   more ›
