It's all about the twirl, ladies. Judge the second consecutive Midwest pole-dancing competition for yourself. Watch these video clips from the weekend's festivities at the Tinley Park Convention Center.

Whether to the soothing sounds of piccolos or the rhythmic beats of techno music, women from all walks of life showcased their pole spins over the weekend right here in Tinley Park. All were part of the three-day Second Annual Great Midwest Pole Dancing Competition and Convention held Friday to Sunday at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Business Comings 'n Goings

Comings & Goings: Rosati’s Closes, Local Couple Opens Bakery

Also, the Midwestern pole dancing competition returns to the Tinley Park Convention Center this coming weekend and Pure Core Nutrition opens in Orland Park.

Rosati’s 171st Street and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park recently closed. But a spokesman for the company said the franchise would be reopening “in the next six to eight months” at 76th Avenue and 159th Street within the village. It may even settle in where Ameera's Pizza used to be. Deon and Vicki O'Bryant, who live in Tinley Park and have been selling cakes at farmers markets under the name Sweet Dreams Cakes, opened a bakery over the weekend at 80th Avenue and Lincoln Highway in Frankfort. Sweet Dreams Cakes and Bakery is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and from 6:30 a.m. to noon Sundays. For information, visit them online at Sweet Dreams Cakes or check out their Facebook …

Poler passion was on display Saturday and Sunday at the first-ever Great Midwest Pole Dance Competition and Convention. Hosted by Mary Ellyn Weissman, owner of Midwest Pole Dancing: Empowerment Through Exotic Dance in Chicago Heights, rookies and elite dancers alike took to the stage to show off their athleticism and style for the judges. Judges included French pole-dancing celebrity Prana Ovide-Etienne, dancing champ Amber Richard and Collette Kakuk of California. About 300 dancers and spectators descended on the  Tinley Park Convention Center for competition, pole-dancing workshops, vendor displays and seminars. Pole dancing has become a fitness craze, and Weissman offers lessons in the south suburbs in Chicago Heights and Frankfort. …

A Chicago Heights entrepreneur's vision brings hundreds of pole-dancing enthusiasts to the Tinley Park Convention Center for competition, talk and high-heeled fun.

Both spirits and high heels soared at the first-ever Great Midwest Pole Dance Competition and Convention this past weekend in Tinley Park. Brainchild of Chicago Heights business-owner Mary Ellyn Weissman, a former registered nurse changed professions after falling in love with this challenging, edgy activity, the two-day event drew 300-some dancers and spectators to the Tinley Park Convention Center for competition in the masters, rookie and elite pole dance divisions.
