$34,000 SUV Stolen From Dealer Lot: Blotter

Tinley Park police reports, May 10-15 • Car window smashed, purse taken • Car burglar unsuccessful • Wedding cake pool ladder stolen • Gym bag snatched.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 15 A window on a car was smashed out in the 16000 bloc of Harlem Avenue, according to a report. The car was in the parking lot near a gym, and a purse that contained ID cards, gift cards, credit cards and about $100 cash was taken, the report stated. No arrests were reported. A chlorine cartridge system and a set of plastic pool stairs in the shape of a wedding cake were reported stolen from a backyard pool in the 7400 block of Ridgeland Lane, according to police. The owner suspects “kids” took the pool accessories, which combined are valued at about $400, the report stated. South Suburban DUI Arrests, May 19

The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending the DUI alcohol limit be lowered to 0.05 ... not that it would do any good for the people on this week's list of Southland DUIs.

  NEW LENOX May 9: Alejandro Aguillon, 22, of the 100 block of Branchaw Boulevard, New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence, making an improper turn and speeding, according to a report. Police stopped Aguillon at about 2:13 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Road and Terry Ellen Lane. Aguillon was allegedly found under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and released after posting bond. ORLAND PARK April 24: Brian J. Windt, 38, of the 15600 block of Larkspun Lane, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a report. Disobeying 'Do Not Enter' Sign Leads To DUI: Blotter

Tinley Park police reports, May 8-14 • Theft of supplements from GNC • Rented trailer reported stolen.

TUESDAY, MAY 14 More than $1,600 worth of supplements were stolen from GNC, 7380 191st St., according to a report. Police said a customer walked out at about 11:06 a.m. with five Chrome P6 Extreme and seven Chrome P6 Extreme Bonus supplements while a store employee was speaking with another customer. The combined value of the products is $1649.88. The suspect is described as a 6-foot, 2-inch, 220-pound black man with short hair, and was wearing a dark gray sweater, the report stated. Young, 28, of the 7400 block of Tiffany Drive in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, according to a report. Vandals Smash Lawn Lighting

Decorative lawn lighting in the 17700 block of 71st Avenue was damaged or stolen on May 8, according to reports. Three landscaping lights were removed sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 p.m. from the front yard and thrown at a window of one home, denting the window casing. The window screen also was torn. Around the same time, a decorative light police in the front yard of a neighbor was pushed over, according to report. The light at the top of the pole was broken. 'Rude' Request for Whopper Leads to Fight Between Fast Food Employees

Having it your way doesn't include being rude to your fellow employee, if you work at one Burger King location.

A fight broke out between two workers at Burger King over the rude way one employee asked the other to make a burger. Police were called at about 1:24 p.m. on May 12 to the fast food restaurant, 18301 S. Harlem Ave., because of a fight between two employees, according to a report. A witness told police a female employee asked her male coworker “in a rude way” to make a Whopper sandwich, according to the report. After being told by the man to watch what she was saying, the woman responded by saying “You are 27 years old and still live at home and have a job at Burger King.” According to the report, that comment ignited the argument. The female coworker had argued with another employee within the past several weeks, according to the report. …

Police stopped at car for speeding at about 3:01 a.m. near the intersection of Laraway Road and Stonebridge Drive. Cosgrove was arrested after an investigation by police. He posted bond and was released. May 4: Jose Fuentes-Jimenez, 31, of the first block of Calle Regina Medina, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, disobeying a traffic control device and speeding, according to a report. Graffiti Artist Paints 'Mona Lisa' on Service Box

The black-paint reproduction of one of Lenardo da Vinci's most famous works has been removed from its makeshift canvas near McDonald's on Harlem Avenue.

It’s not exactly the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but one criminal artist turned a service box into a canvas. An image of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa was painted onto a utility service box near McDonald’s, 17171 S. Harlem Ave., according to a report. Police said stenciling and black paint were used. The defacement was located on the south-facing side of the box and has since been removed. READ: Police Want Your Help in Catching AC Thieves Police said the service box houses AT&T cable boxes. Cars Damaged During Downtown Tinley Fight: Blotter

SUNDAY, MAY 5 Two cars were damaged during a street fight in the 17200 block of Oak Park Avenue, according to a report. The fight broke up when police arrived at about 2:59 a.m. One man told police he was tackled in the street after getting into an argument with another man inside a downtown bar. The vehicles were damaged during that fight, the report stated. The tackled man refused to sign a complaint, and police instead issued a local ordinance ticket for disorderly conduct to the man who allegedly made the tackle, the report continued.   EVERGREEN PARK April 26: Christine Y. Blades, 46, of the 200 block of South Torrence Avenue in Sauk Village, was charged with driving under the influence, failing to dim headlights, using unsafe equipment and driving with a defective window, according to a report. Blades was stopped at about 12:11 a.m., near 98th Street and Western Avenue, after an officer noticed the vehicle's bright headlights were on. The officer also reported seeing sparks coming from the rear of the vehicle and believed the car's axle might have been broken. Police reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath and noticed that two airbags inside the car had deployed. More Air Conditioners Disappear in Tinley Park

Police are investigating a string of thefts that left local businesses hot and bothered.

Tinley Park police are investigating the theft of more than 30 air conditioners in three communities that have disappeared in the night. In the past two months, about 35 air conditioners have been stolen from Tinley Park, Oak Forest and Orland Park during the overnight hours, according to police reports. In Tinley Park, eight of the units were taken from between the 5100 and 8000 blocks of 159th Street. About 20 total of the 35 stolen units were taken from Tinley Park locations, according to police. Tinley Park police have conducted at leat one extended stake out of businesses in the village in response to the thefts. In several of the heists, power cables were cut on the units.
