Special Prosecutor Won't Prosecute Will County Board Member's Son

A special prosecutor brought in to try Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son for battery dropped the case but is still going after two pals of the young man. The fathers of these two men are not on the county board.

When Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son was first arrested for allegedly whipping a man with his belt, he only faced charges of misdemeanor battery and mob action. Then the mob action charge went away, and now he's charged with nothing. A special prosecutor called in to try Wilhelmi's 21-year-old son, Alex Wilhelmi of 1108 Taylor St., Joliet, dropped the case Thursday morning. But David Neal of the Special Prosecution Unit of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor's office is still going after the two men arrested along with Alex Wilhelmi on July 1. Daniel Duffy, 23, of 503 Wilcox St. faces a charge of battery and Manuel Borrego, 24, of 319 Hunter Ave. is up for both battery and drunken driving. Duffy and Borrego do not have…

A woman called the police over the weekend saying she believed an abrupt highway merge led a driver to become so angry that he followed her into a parking lot, chased and assaulted her.

An 18-year-old Peotone woman called local police over the weekend after an abrupt merge onto Interstate 80 and an unsettling interaction with a fellow motorist, she was chased and choked outside a Tinley Park supermarket.  The woman told police that around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, she was on I-57, merging onto I-80 as a construction zone was approaching, forcing her to quickly make the lane change. Something isn't right about her story. I bet it comes out that she's lying. Is there even anyone still at Target that time of night??? And even if they are why would the employees let her in the store? I'd think they would just call 911 from inside the store and let the police handle it.   more ›

This should be a lesson to all young driver's that road rage can be a deadly occurrence. Being a victim of it myself that one time u get angry at another motorist or vice versa is not worth acting on because u never know who is in that other car and if serious enough call the police, never try to exchange words or hand gestures for that could become a life or death situation. Always remain calm …   more ›

Man Who Says He Was Chasing Down Wife's 'Stalker' Causes Accident, Charged with Reckless Driving

Police arrested a Tinley Park man who they say chased down a car on Harlem Avenue.

Police arrested a 29-year-old Tinley Park man last week after they say he was instigating an accident with another driver on Harlem Avenue. Jeffrey J. Staack, of the 17300 block of Harlem Avenue, was charged Wednesday with reckless driving, police said. Police responded shortly before 7 p.m. to the 16200 block of Harlem, where they said Staack caused a crash involving a woman who was driving northbound on Harlem. She said that while she was driving, she saw Staack "making obscene gestures and yelling at her." She told police she knew Staack, as he was once friends with her father, who was a passenger in the car the woman was driving. Staack began tailgating and chasing the car, the woman said, nearly striking other vehicles while he did so…
