Tinley Park Sees Almost 50% Yearly Jump in October Home Sales

Home prices in the village also saw a yearly increase, climbing 13.2 percent. Overall, sales of single-family, detached homes in the Chicago suburbs rose 44.6 percent in the same timeframe.

Home sales in Tinley Park continued an upward trend, climbing to 47.4 percent in October over the same month in 2011. In September, the village saw a 107-percent increase.  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout the Southland saw growth in October, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Tinley Park Home Sales Up 107.1% as Chicago Area Hits Six-Year High

The village's real estate market boomed in September as the bulk of the Chicago area saw a bump in year-over-year comparisons. Check out the numbers and tell us what you think it means for the local housing market.

Home sales in the Chicago area during September were at a six-year high, according to a recent RE/MAX report—and most of the Southland saw a similar boost. Tinley Park saw the greatest increase in the area, with the number of homes sold increasing 107.1 percent in September 2012 over September 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). The average price of those homes sold jumped by 24.8 percent year over year. Palos Hill's market was the most sluggish, with the number of homes sold falling 42.9 percent in September 2012 compared to September 2011. It would be interesting to know how many of these were foreclosures or short sales. I really don't notice the houses around Tinley appreciating that much.   more ›
