Mayoral Candidate's FOIA Requests Adding Up for Village

The cost of the Village fulfilling Freedom of Information Act requests from mayoral candidate Steve Eberhardt is adding up—to the tune of more than $18,000 over the last 13 months, Sun-Times Media reports. During Tinley Park's village board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, village clerk Pat Rea released a FOIA request report just weeks after Eberhardt used a FOIA request to file a challenge against Mayor Ed Zambrocki. Rea said the timing of his report was due to the entire board not meeting since November of last year, according to Sun-Times Media. Over the last 13 months, Eberhardt filed more than $18,000 in FOIA requests, including more than $9,000 in the last month alone, the report said. Register to Vote by March 12

The deadline to register to vote for the April election is March 12.

Residents wishing to vote in the April 9 municipal election need to act soon—the deadline to register is fast-approaching. The cutoff to register is Tuesday, March 12. Residents can register at Village Hall, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mayor Ed Zabrocki's opponent Steve Eberhardt, and trustee candidates Karen Weigand, Andrew DeLuca and Nancy Petro, recently filed a complaint over Zabrocki and incumbent trustees Brian Maher, Dave Seaman and T.J. Grady's use of village-funded photos on their campaign website, www.TeamTinley.com. TeamTinley.com no longer uses the challenged photos, as of Thursday, Jan. 31.
