Plush Horse Back to Business after Friday Night Scare

A car drove through the front window of the ice cream shop along 171st Street and shut down the store early on Friday. No one was hurt.

Apparently the ice cream at Plush Horse in Tinley Park is so good, the store needs to put in a drive-through. The staff and customers at the ice cream joint, located at 7903 W. 171st St., received a bit of a scare Friday night when a car smashed into the store's front glass window. No one was injured, according to Plush Horse staff. Both the Tinley Park Police and Fire departments were called to the scene. The driver's information wasn't immediately available. An employee at Plush Horse said the driver was a teenager who apparently thought the car was in a different gear when she tried to drive away. Staff closed the store early on Friday but had opened it back up at noon on Saturday to resume normal business hours…

Golf Club Heads Swiped from Sporting Goods Store: Police Blotter

MONDAY, MARCH 4 Police were called to a home in the 17400 block of Valley View Drive, after a resident reported her mailbox was damaged sometime over night. The victim told officers that an unknown offender(s) removed her mailbox, but not the mailbox pole. Officers located the damaged mailbox at the intersection of 175th Street and 80th Avenue. Police returned the damaged box to the victim. SATURDAY, MARCH 2 Police were called to the Chicago Tribune building, 8442 W. 183rd Street, after a victim reported her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle. Driver Allegedly on Drugs Tells Cops He's Talking to Santa: Police Blotter

Tinley Park police reports, Feb. 28–March 3.

SUNDAY, MARCH 3 Police were called to a home in the 19000 block of S. Westfield Avenue, after a resident reported damage to his car. The man told police that someone smashed the driver's side window of his car sometime during the afternoon. Officers could not determine how the window was smashed, but were able to verify that nothing was removed from the vehicle. SATURDAY, MARCH 2 Michael A. Kuzminski, 20, of the 18000 block of Highland Avenue, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC over .08, speeding and no insurance, following an incident near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Hickory Street. Tinley Park Bank Robber Hit Mokena Bank First

The man who robbed a Tinley Park bank Tuesday is suspected to have stolen $3,000 from a bank on Front Street in Mokena last Thursday.

A man who robbed a First Midwest Bank in Tinley Park Tuesday is suspected to be the same who stole more than $3,000 from a Chase Bank in Mokena last week, The Chicago Tribune reports.  In both cases, the robber did not use a weapon and fled the scene on foot. The Mokena robbery occurred at 1:33 p.m. Feb. 21. The Tinley Park incident took place at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 26. The offender is approximately 40 years old, 5-foot, 4-inches tall and 200 pounds, according to Mokena police reports. The teller manning the Chase Bank station that was robbed said that the man had an unshaven face and was wearing sunglasses, a dark colored beanie and a grey sweatshirt with a logo. Car Break-In Only Results in Tossed Papers: Police Blotter

Tinley Park police reports, Feb. 12-14 • Parked car goes missing the next day • iPhone taken from health club locker room.

THURSDAY, FEB. 14 Police were called to a home in the 16400 block of Brementowne Drive, after a victim reported their car was broken into. The victim told police that the car was broken in to and papers were thrown about. But nothing appeared to be taken, the victim stated. Police told the victim a report would be filed. Police were notified of a car possibly stolen in the 8000 block of Enclave Lane on Friday, Feb. 8. The victim said she left her car on the street because of construction and when she returned the next day, the car was gone. Police checked with other area agencies, but could not locate the car. Burglar Strikes Two Apartments in Same Complex

A burglar struck two apartments in Hanover Place complex Feb. 8. A $7,000 ring was stolen, along with $60 in cash.

A burglar targeted two different apartments in the same complex Feb. 8, according to reports.  Missing from one apartment are a ring worth approximately $7,000 and three coin purses containing a total of about $100. The burglar took $60 in cash and some food from another apartment in the same complex near 169th and Harlem.  A woman called police after she noticed her mother's ring missing from a bedroom dresser. The woman's mother, who is hospitalized, had been asking for the ring. The only people with access to the apartment are the woman, her brother and cleaning staff at the complex.
