Tinley Park residents affected by last month's flooding could be eligible for federal disaster aid, according to a village press release. Residents whose property was damaged or destroyed from the flooding caused by last month's severe rainstorms and who aren't covered by insurance might be able to receive financial funding or assistance, the release stated. With summer just around the corner, baseball and construction season already have begun in Tinley Park. Now, it's time for summer's final season to start: water conservation season. These measures help ensure the village's water supply stays at safe levels for health and environmental reasons, the release stated. As a rule, the village tries to keep at least 50 percent of capacity in the water storage system for drinking water and fire protection, the release continued. A multi-million dollar auto parts manufacturer is expanding its corporate headquarters in Tinley Park and bringing in new jobs, thanks in part to a performance-based incentive approved by the Village Board last week. UGN, a joint Japanese and Swedish venture that was founded in 1986 and is worth $250 million, will receive $70,000 worth of incentives over seven years to keep and add on to its 18419 Crossing Drive headquarters, according to an official memo written by Ivan Baker, the village's economic development director.
