Village Meetings: Who's Gathering This Week (May 20-24)

Patch tells you what boards, commissions and other panels are holding public meetings. Two committees—Public Works and Finance and Economic Development—meet before the Village Board.

Each week, Patch will list the various Village of Tinley Park commissions, committees and other governmental bodies that are meeting over the next five days. Tinley Park Residents Eligible for Federal Flood Aid

Find out how you could receive funds if your home or property was damaged because of the flooding caused by recent rainstorms.

Tinley Park residents affected by last month's flooding could be eligible for federal disaster aid, according to a village press release. Residents whose property was damaged or destroyed from the flooding caused by last month's severe rainstorms and who aren't covered by insurance might be able to receive financial funding or assistance, the release stated. Disaster assistance, however, is not meant to restore damaged property to its condition before the disaster, the release continued. Village Water Conservation Begins May 15

These measures will be in effect until Sept. 15 and apply to all Tinley Park residents. Find out when you'll be able to water outside this summer. Plus, take a by-the-numbers look at the village's water use.

With summer just around the corner, baseball and construction season already have begun in Tinley Park. Now, it's time for summer's final season to start: water conservation season. From May 15 to Sept. 15, residents' outdoor water use is limited from 7 to 11 a.m. and from 7 to 11 p.m. on odd or even dates based on their address numbers, according to a village press release. These measures help ensure the village's water supply stays at safe levels for health and environmental reasons, the release stated. As a rule, the village tries to keep at least 50 percent of capacity in the water storage system for drinking water and fire protection, the release continued. UGN Keeps HQ in Tinley Park Thanks to $70K Incentive

Last week, the Tinley Park Village Board voted to approve a performance-based incentive package of $70,000 over 7 years for the international auto parts supplier. For its part, UGN will expand its corporate headquarters in the village.

A multi-million dollar auto parts manufacturer is expanding its corporate headquarters in Tinley Park and bringing in new jobs, thanks in part to a performance-based incentive approved by the Village Board last week. UGN, a joint Japanese and Swedish venture that was founded in 1986 and is worth $250 million, will receive $70,000 worth of incentives over seven years to keep and add on to its 18419 Crossing Drive headquarters, according to an official memo written by Ivan Baker, the village's economic development director. Village Creates Survey to Collect Flood Data From Residents

The Village of Tinley Park is asking residents to fill out a survey that will gather information about the damage done to homes by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

Did your house suffer damage during last week's flooding? If so, the Village of Tinley Park wants to know about it immediately. READ: Overnight Rainfall Causes Flooding in Tinley The village needs residents with any flood damage to report the details in a survey on the Tinley Park website by 5 p.m. Monday, April 29. The surveys will collect data for the village concerning the effect last week's nearly four inches of rain had on residences, according to a press release. Along with gathering general information like address and whether the person rents or owns his or her residence, the survey will collect data describing the type of damage the flooding did to rooms and yards and how much water accumulated inside their homes, the release …

Rain Check: What You Need to Know Before You Hit the Road

Patch looks at Friday's forecast, as well as what streets are closed in Tinley Park and around the area. Plus, check out some of the images of the flooding locally and in the south suburbs.

The seeming nonstop rain of Thursday has subsided, but Tinley Park residents will still be dealing with the aftermath Friday. And maybe a bit more precipitation. Here's what the National Weather Service has to say about the forecast for Friday, April 19: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. The flooding that caused road closings Thursday were mostly in the southeastern part of the village.
