Job Hunters: Who's Hiring in Tinley Park and Oak Forest? (May 22)

A new Irish-American restaurant opening in June needs a general manager, and Community Consolidated School District 146 is looking for early learning teachers. Plus, openings for therapists and a retail store manager.

Community Consolidated School District 146 (Tinley Park and Oak Forest): The school district is looking for full- and part-time early learning teachers for the 2013-14 school year. Applicants must have a valid Illinois teaching certificate/license with the following endorsements: Self-Contained Gen. Ed., Age 0-Gr. 3; ESL; Bilingual (Spanish or Arabic); and Early Childhood Special Education. Go to the district's website for more information and to apply.

WANTED: Paraeducator
Elim Christian School (Palos Heights): This position helps the teacher with educational programs and provides instruction behavior management and supervision in the classroom and playground. Applicants must have at least 60 college credits or paraprofessional certification. The salary starts $10.60 an hour ($11.05 with a bachelor's degree) and increases with education and experience. WANTED: Physical, speech and occupational therapists
Chicagoland Early Intervention (Oak Forest): The company, which has been in business for more than 12 years, needs therapists licensed in the state to work in a home setting with early intervention children, ages birth to 3 years old. WANTED: Restaurant general manager
Ariel's Bar and Restaurant (Tinley Park): A new Irish-American restaurant opening in late June and needs a general manager. Applicants need a minimum of five years' experience in restaurant or lounge management. Other qualities and skills needed for the job include:

  • excellent organizational, supervisory and leadership skills
  • an extroverted personality to coach and mentor staff
  • ability to speak confidently with customers
  • a strong sense of hospitality
  • an ability to work independently
  • a proven ability to diligently control labor and food costs
