You've seen the pointy shoes and the festive apparel, now sit back with the fam and enjoy a free screening of holiday favorite, "Elf." The whole family is invited to watch the movie, rated PG, starring Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel. Watch as after wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his ungainly size, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the U.S. in search of his true identity. No registration required. Learn How to Spot a Stroke: 
Every 40 seconds in the United States, a 
stroke occurs.  When it comes to stroke and other conditions of the brain, 
it’s critical that treatment be started fast. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Dr. 
Harish Shownkeen
, Medical Director of Neuro Interventional Surgery at 
Silver Cross Hospital, will discuss how to identify the signs of a stroke using 
the acronym F.A.S.T, and also provide an overview on the latest minimally 
invasive treatment and recovery options available for stroke patient.  The free program will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center. Get more info. 

FRIDAY, DEC. 6

'First Friday' at Garden Gallery: Check out the work of our featured local artist, Maureen Andrews, hear the live music of amazing classic guitarist, Dave Byron, do a little holiday shopping of hand-painted silk scarves, ties and hand-woven art bags, and enjoy refreshments provided by a local Tinley eatery. 

Attendees may also choose to participate in our Creative Community Series instructor-led art activity. December's activity will be Paint Your own Christmas OrnamentFirst Friday is FREE. ALL AGES WELCOME! Creative Community Series activity is $15 (all supplies included).

The Great 2013 Toy Wrap: This year, hundreds of compassionate volunteers invite you to join Children’s Hunger Fund to wrap tens of thousands of toys for children who might otherwise go without this Christmas. Free Holiday Concert! The Tinley Park Community Band,  under the direction of Barb Abarro, presents their annual holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 8th at 3 p.m.  Included in the numbers to be performed that  afternoon are: Syncopated Clock, Sleigh Ride, and the Christmas "Pop" Sing-a-long.
