Andrew HS Seniors Scoop Ice Cream to Build Well In Kenya

Megan Garand was almost speechless only a little more than a half hour into Tuesday night's fundraiser at Tinley Park's Plush Horse that she helped organize to pay for a well to be built in a village in Kenya.

But the Andrew High School senior wasn't having trouble expressing herself because of the generosity in display. It was because she had lost her voice from telling people who turned out about Project Well.

Megan and fellow Andrew senior Anna Prospisil were happy with the early turnout, which included Mayor Ed Zabrocki, for their benefit, which had Plush Horse donating 10 percent of its ice cream sales from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. The duo need to raise $2,500 in order to get the well built.

And the Tinley Park teens were anticipating bigger crowds later in the evening thanks to parents and kids on their way home from school open houses.
